Showcasing Africa to the world and bringing the world to Africa, the International Quilt Convention Africa will be held on the 27th, 28th and 29th of July 2012 at Emperor's Palace, Johannesburg.
The organisers are bringing six tutors from the USA and one from Kenya to the Convention and along with five South African tutors they will be providing a full range of inspiring workshops throughout the three days of the Convention. In addition to these workshops , the programme includes a quilt challenge, lectures and a vendor's hall.
This will be an exciting event and we hope it will be the first of many.
Although the event is a Quilt Convention, the intention of the organisers is that it should encompass all of the needle arts and needle crafts. Hazel Blomkamp's Fine Needlecraft will be at the Daaft Designs' stand, no. B3 in the vendor's hall. We're even working on embellishing crazy patchwork with embroidery and lace work especially for the event!
